| Introduction |
| Foreword from the President : Since the formation of the Federation in 1989, we have come a long way towards achieving our goal, mainly in the introduction of the sport of Petanque and Sport Boules to the youths. In 2003, the committee decided to create a new and vibrant image of the sports. With the change of name to "SPORTS BOULES SINGAPORE" and changes in the constitution, together with a new set of younger committee members, we are embarking on a new youth development plan. Modular plans for schools are created to bring the sports to more schools. Talks were held with the Ministry of Education Sports Recreation Club (MESRC) to get teachers and trainee teachers to learn the sports. Meetings with some principals and HODs were held in which interest were shown. We are expected to hold an age group championship within the next two years. Even with a very tight budget, we hope to send youths players for international exposures and championships. As at 6th January 2004, CCA Branch of the Ministry of Education consented to include Petanque as an CCA in schools. Encouraged by our 4th placing in the Ladies Single during the 21st SEA Games held in Kuala Lumpur in 2001, we were better prepared for the 22nd SEA Games in Vietnam. Unfortunately our participation was rejected by SNOC. We will now concentrated on our youth development and send players for overseas competition to improve our standing in the world. Our team to the 39th World Championship achieved our highest standing of 21st position out of 52 countries. With the corroboration of Singapore Sports Council a new handbook was published for distribution to schools, community centres, residents committees and corporate companies. The annual Singapore International was held on the 20th and 21st September in which 10 countries participated. Learn to play sessions were held for senior citizens , corporate companies and government bodies. Some 200 pupils from Bowen Secondary School, and 80 pupils from Yu Hua secondary participated in these Learn to play sessions. We welcome Dr. Tan Cheng Bock, MP for Ayer Rajah as our patron. He is very supportive of the sport in his constituency. We like to thank Singapore Sports Council and Singapore Pools for their financial support. We like to express our gratitude to FBT (Football Thai) for their support in sponsoring attires for our teams. Our thanks to all the volunteers, committee members for their effort to publicize the sports to the masses.
